چکیده

Wound healing is the restorative process of skin or tissue injury, composed inflammatory, proliferative, maturation, and remodeling phases. The current study aimed to examine efficacy ASPP 092 (a well-characterized diarylheptanoid from Curcuma comosa Roxb) in modulating wound healing. Full-thickness excision wounds were made rats treated with either (dose: 1 mg/mL 2 mg/mL) mupirocin (bioequivalent formulation). A control group vehicle (gel base) was also maintained. evaluated based on gross appearance, closure, histopathology days 3, 7, 12 post-wounding. expression cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) among groups determined day 3 Our results suggest that treatment accelerated healing, as evidenced by rapid re-epithelialization, granulation formation fewer inflammatory cells. More fibroblasts, collagen fibers, blood vessels originated reduced COX-2 wounds, demonstrating anti-inflammatory potential experimental wounds. In conclusion, our findings, for first time, preliminarily identified accelerating healing; however, more detailed studies its mechanism action are required.

Bone Sparing Effect of a Novel Phytoestrogen Diarylheptanoid from Curcuma comosa Roxb. in Ovariectomized Rats

Phytoestrogens have been implicated in the prevention of bone loss in postmenopausal osteoporosis. Recently, an active phytoestrogen from Curcuma comosa Roxb, diarylheptanoid (DPHD), (3R)-1,7-diphenyl-(4E,6E)-4,6-heptadien-3-ol, was found to strongly promote human osteoblast function in vitro. In the present study, we demonstrated the protective effect of DPHD on ovariectomy-induced bone loss (...

Improvements of insulin resistance in ovariectomized rats by a novel phytoestrogen from Curcuma comosa Roxb

BACKGROUND Curcuma comosa Roxb. (C. comosa) is an indigenous medicinal herb that has been used in Thailand as a dietary supplement to relieve postmenopausal symptoms. Recently, a novel phytoestrogen, (3R)-1,7-diphenyl-(4E,6E)-4,6-heptadien-3-ol or compound 049, has been isolated and no study thus far has investigated the role of C. comosa in preventing metabolic alterations occurring in estroge...

Structures of new sesquiterpenes from Curcuma comosa.

From the methanolic extract of the rhizomes of Curcuma comosa cultivated in Thailand, six new sesquiterpenes, (+)- and (-)-comosols (1, 2), comosones I (3), II (4), and III (5), and dimethoxycurcumenone (6), were isolated. Their structures were elucidated on the basis of chemical and physicochemical evidence.

Topical thyroid hormone accelerates wound healing in mice.

Although the physiologic role of thyroid hormone in skin is not well understood, mounting evidence suggests that T3 plays an important role in epidermal proliferation. The goal of this project was to evaluate whether the topical application of supraphysiologic doses of T3 could accelerate wound healing. We evaluated mice treated with topical T3 vs. the same mice receiving vehicle alone (Novasom...
